Garcia Promoted to Associate Head Soccer Coach

(November 18, 2025) Mena, Arkansas - At the conclusion of the 2025 soccer seasons, Athletic Director Jerod McCormick and Head Soccer Kevin Sherry are proud to announce the promotion of Luis Garcia as the Associate Head Soccer Coach, effective immediately.

Garcia finished up his fourth season as an Assistant Coach for both the men's and women's teams. He began during the Fall 2022 semester as a Volunteer Coach for UARM as Graduate Student for his internship at Tarleton State University. He was brought to UA Rich Mountain by then Head Soccer Coach Casey Weil. He played football for Coach Weil at Stephenville High School, where he was a part of their 2012 State Championship Team as the place kicker.

As the Assistant Coach, Coach Garcia has handled almost all duties on and off the field for the Bucks. He maintains arguably one of the best natural grass soccer fields in the region, manages the Bucks travel during the season, is heavily involved in recruiting, and runs the off-season program. On the field, he primarily coaches the goalkeepers, while continuing to learn under the direction of Head Soccer Coach Kevin Sherry.

On the promotion of Coach Garcia, Coach Kevin Sherry stated, "Coach Garcia bleeds Rich Mountain red. He is very passionate about the school and the sport he loves. He has done his time and is ready to step up. I am so proud of his development over the last few years and am excited about his future!"

Athletic Director Jerod McCormick added, "Luis is one of our own. He is a home grown coach that started as a volunteer four years ago and is now the Associate Head Coach. Coach Garcia is the definition of a team player that has grasped what it takes to be a Head Coach on and off the field. I couldn't be more excited for him and our soccer program!"

Originally from Stephenville, TX, Coach Garcia holds degrees from Tarleton State University: Bachelor of Science in General Studies & a Master of Science in Kinesiology. He also is an adjunct instructor for UARM.
